Adams, who had six of Morgan’s 10 assists, also totaled a game-high six of the team’s 13 steals, while Rogers had four.

Jasmine Sellers and Theresa Davis chipped in with 12 and 11 points, respectively, as the Lady Bears scored a season high for points. The 91 points were the most scored by a Morgan State team, since the 2000-01 squad recorded a 98-65 win over North Carolina A&T.

With the victory, Morgan State (11-6, 5-1 MEAC) matched its season-long winning streak of four games, while earning its second consecutive win over the Lady Bison and just the 11th win in the series’ 53 meetings.

Howard (2-15, 2-3 MEAC), who was coming off a 97-45 thumping at South Carolina State on Monday, never led in the game against Morgan and quickly fell behind, 11-2, following a layup by Rogers nearly six minutes into the game.

The Lady Bison pulled within 11-7, but Morgan State responded with a 20-1 run, capped off by a three-pointer by Sellers, making it a 31-8 advantage for the guests. Morgan would take a 27-point (51-24) lead at the intermission.

The second half would not get any better for the hosts, as Morgan used a 16-0 run to increase its cushion to 43 points at 67-24. The Lady Bears would go on an 11-0 run over five minutes to take their largest lead of the game at 80-30 with 7:51 remaining in the contest.

The Lady Bison shot 23 percent (14-of-67) for the game, including 2-of-15 (13 percent), while the guests finished 41 percent (33-of-79) and 8-of-19 (42 percent) from three-point range.

Morgan State outrebounded the Lady Bison, 63-41, with Britney Griffin pulling down a team-high 11 boards. Morgan’s bench outscored Howard, 35-25 and held a 44-22 advantage in the paint. The guests also took advantage of 29 Howard turnovers, turning them into 31 points, while the Lady Bison converted 15 Morgan turnovers into seven points.

Howard was led by Shannon Carlisle’s team-high 16 points and Reyna Gross and Tamaya Daniels added 12 and 10 points apiece. Daniels added a game-high 13 rebounds to finish with a double-double.

The Lady Bears travel to Hampton, Va., to take on the Lady Pirates of Hampton in a MEAC contest on Monday, Jan. 28, at the HU Convocation Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
