BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 31, 2006)—Juniors Esther Johnson and Jeniqua Moran tallied 12 kills each to lead the Morgan State volleyball team to a 3-0 (30-18, 32-30, 30-23) sweep of league rival Howard in a non-conference match on Tuesday evening at Hill Field House.
The Lady Bears (17-8), who hit a combined .268 for the match, also received strong outings from Camile Coleman (nine kills, match-high three blocks) and O’Tasha Williams finished with eight kills and two blocks.
Morgan State which entered the contest ranked fourth in service aces, totaled 13, with Jentri Fullove, Moran and Williams all collecting three aces apiece. Moran also added a team-high 13 digs, to earn her fourth double-double of this season, while Fullove finished with 42 assists and set a career-high with nine digs.
Janel James led Howard with 10 kills and Morgan Maxwell recorded a double-double with eight kills and 10 digs. Jenica Leonard had a match-high 14 digs for the Lady Bison, who fell to 6-18 on the season.
Morgan State returns to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference action this Friday, Nov. 3, as it hosts Delaware State at 7 p.m. at Hill Field House.
