Teneika Fellows tallied career-highs in kills (7) and digs (15) in Sunday's win over Hampton.
BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 22, 2006)—The Lady Bears overcame a lethargic performance from its offense on Sunday afternoon and defeated visiting Hampton for their homecoming match, 3-0 (30-20, 30-25, 30-24) at Hill Field House.
With the victory, Morgan State upped its record to 16-7 overall, 7-1 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and improved to 28-0 all-time against the Lady Pirates.
Morgan State had 38 kills in the match, while hitting a disappointing .140 for the match, its lowest percentage in its last 10 matches. The Lady Bears also committed 21 attack errors and 14 service errors. On the other side, the Lady Pirates were limited to a -.019 hitting percentage with 24 kills on 107 attempts and 26 errors.
Juniors Esther Johnson and Jeniqua Moran led the Lady Bears on offense with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Fellow junior Teneika Fellows had a career day, finishing with seven kills and a match-high 15 digs, both career highs. Ashley Preston added 14 digs and Jentri Fullove notched a match-high 32 assists.
Hampton (7-15, 2-4 MEAC) who has lost its last four matches, was led byEse Ighedosa’s eight kills and four blocks. Eboni Vincent added six kill and Chavanca Hoskins had five. Alyssa Jackson had a team-high 13 digs.
Morgan State returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 22, when it visits Saint Francis-Pa. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Maurice Stokes Center. The Lady Bears are 3-1 all-time against the Red Flash.
