Visanthe Shiancoe scores a TD for the New York Giants.
The Morgan State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will host a ceremony on Thursday, February 17th to honor former Bear and current New York Giant Visanthe Shiancoe.
The event will take place next Thursday, February 17th at 1:00p.m. at Hill Field House on the Morgan State campus. Shiancoe a former All-MEAC Tight End was a 3rd Round Draft choice of the New York Giants in 2002. Shiancoe went to the Giants after completing a stellar, All-Conference career at MSU.
Shiancoe did not forget his Alma Mater after leaving the Morgan State campus for the NFL. Visanthe reached back to make a generous donation to help significantly upgrade the Morgan State weight room. The gift is an invaluable addition to the continued development of not only Morgan State football, but all of Morgan State University athletics has benefited.
During his undergraduate days Shiancoe almost lived in the weight room. His tireless dedication, sweat and hard work resulted in transforming a 190 pound freshman project, into a 250 pound All-MEAC, NFL Draft pick in his senior year.
MSU Head Coach Don Hill says Shiancoe represents what Morgan State football is all about. Hill says, "Our mission is not only to produce good football players, but we endeavour to produce great men who become productive citizens. Visanthe is the ultimate example of that model. Hill adds, "Shiancoe has gone on to not only represent Morgan State well in the NFL, but he's reached back to help current and future Morgan State athletes enjoy the same success. He embodies the spirit of what it means to be a Morgan Bear."
