ALBANY, N.Y. (Nov. 26, 2005)-Sarissa Gaskins scored a team-high 15 points and fellow junior guard Whitney Johnson had 12, but it wasn’t enough for Morgan State, as Albany dealt the Lady Bears a 66-56 road loss.
Jennyffer Vargas came off the bench to score 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting for Morgan.
Albany held a 45-30 rebounding advantage over the Lady Bears and shot 91.7 percent (22-of-24) from the free throw line, while Morgan connected on 20-of-28 (71.4) from the line. The Lady Bears trailed 30-26 at the intermission.
The Great Danes were led by Jen Schumacher’s 15 points. Joy Sterling finished with a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds and Tanya James added 10 points.
Morgan State (1-3) will welcome crosstown rival Coppin State to Hill Field House on Saturday, Dec. 3, for its home opener. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
