Gamble Joins The Arena Football League

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League has announced that it has signed former Morgan State football standout Albert Gamble, pushing the team’s roster to the training camp maximum of 37 players.

The Sumter, S.C. native becomes the youngest player on the Soul roster. The 22-year-old starred as a linebacker for the Bears and was named a First Team All-MEAC Defender in both his junior (2002) and senior (2003) seasons. As a senior he switched from linebacker to defensive end, where he registered 11 sacks (13th in the country) and 54 tackles. That year, Gamble ranked second in the MEAC in sacks (11), third in forced fumbles (4) and fourth in tackles for loss (18).

The signing brings the Soul roster to the training camp maximum of 37 players. The Soul are currently in San Jose, CA practicing with the SaberCats.

The Soul led the Arena Football League in attendance averaging over 16,866 fans per home game, including six sellouts.
