The Morgan State Lady Bears got off to a good start in the Providence Friar Invitational Tournament with a win over Quinnipiac on Friday evening 3-2 (27-30,30-27,30-28,28-30,15-13).
The Lady Bears showed endurance and determination in winning a 2 hour, 5-game match in their opener at the Prividence Friar Invitational Tournament in Providence, Rhode Island.
MSU and Quinnipiac went at each other from the opening serve, but it was Morgan State coming through with the victory.
Morgan got a career high performance from Esther Johnson who put down 29 kills in the match, while collecting 23 digs.
MSU got a dozen kills apiece from Ashley Alexander and Vashaye Ellegood. Ms. alexander added 6 total blocks to her contribution.
Freshman Ashley Preston had a team high 17 digs for the match.
