Sherita Johnson earns "Most Outstanding Performer" honors at the NCAA Holiday jamboree in Mt. Laurel, NJ.
The Lady Bear bowling squad had a busy week, bringing 2004 to a close with spectacular performances at two New Jersey tournaments.The week started in Stratford, NJ where MSU competed in the Colgate Invitational. The Lady Bears defeated Coppin State 939-736 and Howard University 927-874. They lost to UMES 987-908, Fairleigh Dickinson, 1050-998 and North Carolina A & T 898-751.
On Tuesday MSU moved on to Mt. Laurel, NJ to participate in the NCAA Holiday Jamboree. Morgan defeated Cheney State 828-589, UMES, 900-871, Howard, 849-790 and New Jersey City University, 937-867. They lost to Fairleigh Dickinson, 961-817. On Wednesday, MSU beat Sacred Heart University 486-471, Delaware State, 567-290, North Carolina A & T 543-472, St. Peters College, 519-462. Their only lost on Wednesday was to Bowie State, 549-497.Â
The most outstanding performer in the Colgate Invitational was Ashley Kilgore who had a high game of 256 and a high three game series of 637 to average 190 for the two day tournament.
The most outstanding performer in the NCAA Holiday Jamboree was Sherita Johnson who had a high game of 236 and a high three game series of 618 to make the all tournament first team with the second high total pin fall and average 197.   Â
The Lady Bears next competition will be the Southern Invitational in Baton Rouge on January 15-16, 2005.
