The Morgan State Lady Bears fell to MD-Baltimore County 87-52 in women's basketball at Hill Field House on Tuesday night. MSU fell behind by 30 at the half and never made a serious second half run.

A quick barrage of 3-point shots by the Retrievers set an early tone from which MSU would never recover. UMBC got consistent open looks from beyond the arc and buried the Lady Bears under a barrage of (9) first half 3-pointers and a total of (11) 3-balls for the game.

Morgan continues to struggle on the boards. The Retrievers pulled down 46 rebounds to only 28 rebounds for MSU.

The Lady Bears reduced their turnovers to 15, but shot only 32% from the field, while UMBC shot a blistering 67% in the 1st half and 57% for the game.

MSU Sophomore Markeda Hollingsworth was the only Lady Bear in double figures.  Markeda had a 15 point night on 5 of 13 shooting from the field. Hollingsworth was 4 of 7 from the charity stripe for the night.

Whitney Johnson and Latricia Jones each poured in 9 points on the evening. Jones led Morgan with 4 rebounds.

UMBC got an explosive 25 point effort from Matea Pender. Pender was 5 of 8 from 3-point land. Brittnie Hughs, Kristin Drabyn and Heather Luttrell all scored 10 points. 

The Lady Bears fall to 0-2 on the season, while UMBC raises their record to 2-1.

MSU was led by Markeda Hollingsworth who poured in 15 points for the Lady Bears.
