The Morgan State University Lady Bears (2-8, 1-0 MEAC) lost for the 2nd time on Friday as they were swept by the Virginia Tech Hokies at the Maryland Invitational Tournament 3-0 (29-31,26-30,18-30).
The Lady Bears lost a heartbreaking first game, and could not rebound in falling in three straight games to the Virginia Tech Hokies. Despite out-blocking Virginia Tech, MSU struggled from the serving line as they committed 12 service errors. Tech took advantage of the miscues and defeated MSU in a closely contested match.
Tiffany Oliver (Merced, CA/Golden Valley HS) had a brilliant performance, putting down 14 kills for the match to go along with 6 total blocks. Dashmeire Ward (Bakersfield, CA/Ridgeview HS) picked up a team high 8 digs on the day for MSU. Erica Murdock-Waters (Roseville, CA/Woodcreek HS) had 29 assists for Morgan State.
The Lady Bears put down a total of 9 team blocks to only 4 for Virginia Tech.
Annie Spicer led the Hokies with 11 kills.
