BALTIMORE, Md. (Jan. 21, 2018)-The Morgan State women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision on Friday to Temple by a score of 7-0, before bouncing back on Saturday to defeat La Salle, 6-1 for the first win of the season. Both matches were played at the Legacy Youth and Education Tennis Center in Philadelphia.
 
The Owls (1-0) took two of the three doubles matches and swept all six singles matches to secure their season opening win over Morgan State.
 
Morgan State (1-2) was shorthanded heading into the La Salle contest, with two players out, but didn't let that prevent them from dominating the Explorers.
 
The Lady Bears would win both doubles matches that were played to earn the doubles point and then took five of the six singles matches for the final score.
 
Danielle Thompson, Asmara Faluke, Oriane Yehouenou and Peggy Rooke each won their singles matches in straight sets.
 
"We didn't play well against Temple and I think that was a little motivation going into the match against La Salle," said Morgan State head coach Matthew Townes. "We are excited about getting back to work next week and continuing the pursuit of one goal."
 
The Lady Bears' Sunday contest at Virginia Commonwealth has been canceled. No make-up date has been announced at the time of this release.
 
Next up for Morgan State will be a road trip to Harrisonburg, Va. to take on James Madison on Saturday, Feb. 17.
