Results

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The Morgan State men's tennis team defeated La Salle, 5-2, on Saturday in Philadelphia. After dropping the doubles point, the Bears got on track and won five singles matches en route to their victory.

The Explorers picked up wins in first and second doubles to claim the doubles points and take a 1-0 lead in the match.

La Salle would only win one other match, first singles, as the Bears would close out singles play with five victories.

Senior Lucas Krusinski registered a 6-4, 6-1 win in second singles and freshman Oguzhan Ceylan followed in third singles with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory. Freshman Sebastian Lopez  next posted a 6-4, 6-4 win in fourth singles while freshman Shrey Gupta picked up a 6-1, 6-0 triumph in fifth singles. Sophomore Nihit Rawal closed out the action in sixth singles with a resounding 6-0, 6-1 victory.

"We played a couple of quality teams this weekend," said MSU coach Matthew Townes. "We underperformed against Temple, but were able to bounce back and clip La Salle."

"It's a relieving feeling to get the first win of the season, but we also learned how much more we must improve on as the season gets moving."

Morgan State will resume action at Drexel on Sunday, January 28 for a 2:00 p.m. match.
