Men's Tennis Battles But Fall, 6-1, to Georgetown

ARLINGTON, Va. -- Playing its seventh match of the season, the Morgan State men's tennis squad battled but ultimately fell, 6-1, to Georgetown Wednesday afternoon at the Arlington YMCA in Arlington, Virginia.

The Hoyas won the doubles point by taking two of the three match-ups. They also came out on top in five of six singles contests, with two of those going to three sets.

Junior Jeremy Field was solid for the Bears in the top singles spot, earning a straight set win against Beatty Peter, 6-3 and 6-2. He improved to 2-3 at No. 1 singles this season.

Morgan State's junior Arjun Ramakrishnan and freshman Nihit Rawal defeated Jack Murphy and Bart Panarese, 6-2, at No. 3 doubles. It was the first victory of the season for the duo.

Morgan State dropped to 1-6 overall while Georgetown improved to 2-2.

The Bears will have just over two weeks before they return to action when they hit the road to face the U.S. Naval Academy of Feb. 25.
