LANDOVER, Md. - The Morgan State men's indoor track and field team posted a win on Saturday, at the Terrapin Invitational hosted by the University of Maryland at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex in Landover, Md. The Bears finished with 126 points, and Howard came in second with 96 points. Hosts University of Maryland tallied 91 points to take third place.
The Bears finished with 18 individual top-10 performances in the 13-team invitational.
Lloyd Hylton won the long jump with a leap of 7.17m and Nigel Thompson placed second with a mark of 7.02m -- both were IC4A qualifying marks.
Vikarie Elliott finished as runner-up in the weight throw with a season-best toss of 14.64m, and added a sixth place finish in the shot put with a 13.70m.
Desean White was the highest Morgan State finisher in the 60 meter dash, where he finished third with a time of 6.99.
Kevin Leach posted a time of 22.67 to take second place in the 200m, while Desean White finished third with a time of 22.72.
The 4x400 meter relay team,(Pierre Akhenaton, Kevin Leach, Joel Roberson, and Deyvon Howell) finished first with an IC4A qualifying time of 3:20.20, while the distance medley team, (Joseph Halim, Fernandes Boyd, Jaquan Roberts, and Lenier Tucker) finished second with a time of 11:10.21.
The Bears will be back in action on January 27-28, in Boston, Mass. at the Terrier Classic Invitational.
