Morgan State junior Cierra Plummer is in the midst of her third season on the women's tennis team. A native of Surrattsville, Md., Plummer is tied for third on the team in wins this season with seven, while splitting time between No. 4 and No. 5 singles. She is 2-1 in MEAC play with two matches remaining in the regular season. In doubles action, Plummer has recorded a 2-1 mark when partnered with Chole Kabamba at the No. 2 position. As a team the Lady Bears are 6-9 overall and 3-1 in MEAC play, which is currently third-place in the MEAC Northern Division.

Morgan State, which was picked to finish second in the preseason poll, wraps up the regular season this weekend with a road trip to the Virginia Tidewater area. The Lady Bears will first visit league-leader Norfolk State on Saturday, April 16, before closing out the season at Hampton on Sunday. The MEAC Tennis Championship takes place April 21-23 at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center in Norfolk, Va.

What is the best time of year in campus? Spring.
What is your major and why did you choose it? My major is Physical Therapy. My sister just became an occupational therapist and it interested me, so I began looking into different types of therapy myself.
What has been your favorite or most interesting class at MSU? My most interesting class was definitely Anatomy.
If you had to give an incoming student advice, what would it be? If they were student-athletes, I would tell them to go to practice, go to class and get to know your professors. And if you miss a party don't feel like you missed anything because there will be plenty more.
Describe your first day as a student at Morgan State. [laughs] I was so lost. I thought the campus was so huge. I even went to a couple of the wrong classes.
What do you like most about Morgan State? I love the campus. The facilities are nice. I love walking around on a nice day.

Favorite breakfast cereal as a kid? Bran Flakes with sugar! I loved it.

Sports
Which team do you most look forward to competing against? Howard.
Do you have any pregame superstitions or rituals? I don't want to know about my opponent. I don't even look to see who I'll play.
What is your favorite part about playing your sport? The Competition.
What is your favorite athletic memory? To date, it was my freshman year and we were tied with Towson. I was the deciding point and we won.
What is your favorite professional sports team? The Chicago Bulls because I like their mascot.
What is your top skill being a tennis player? I listen. I try to make sense of what my coach tells me and do my best to execute.
When did you start playing tennis? When I was 5.
When you're not at practice, what could someone find you doing? Sleeping!
What do you most look forward to during this upcoming season? MEAC's. Just being with my team and competing. I love it.
What made you start playing tennis? My mom. She never played but she LOVED the game and encouraged me to play. I loved it and stuck with it.
If you could play any other sport, what would it be? Gymnastics.

Miscellaneous
What is your favorite color? Purple.
If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be? Telepathy. I love to get in people's heads.
Do you have an interesting nickname? Not really interesting, but people call me CiCi, or just Ci.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received? "Play the ball, not the person."
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I need to think more positive in certain situations,
Person you admire the most? My grandma.
Most prized possession? [laughs] This is going to sound pretty materialistic, but my phone!
If you could have dinner with 3 people who would they be? My grandfather, my mom, and my dad.
Your hometown is known for? Mambo Sauce.
What do you want to be when you grow up? A Respiratory Therapist
Early bird or night owl? Night owl. I hate waking up early.
Funniest person on the team? Chelsi Russell.
After meeting Coach Townes, your first thought was...? He's very young. I hope he knows what he's doing.
