Gonzalez Named MEAC Special Teams Player of the Week

BALTIMORE, MD. – For the second time this season, Morgan State placekicker/punter Earvin Gonzalez has been named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, which was announced Monday.
 
Gonzalez (PK, 5-11, 215, Sr., Visalia, Calif.) connected on 6-of-6 point after attempts, and averaged 41.6 punting yards, including a 59-yarder with two inside the 20 and three fair catches in the Bears' win Saturday over Savannah State. 
 
His 21-yard field goal in the 3rd quarter added to his percentage this season in which he has converted on a league best 8-of-12 (66.7%) field goals and is a perfect 16-of-16 in point after attempts. 
 
Gonzalez also ranks No. 6 in the MEAC in punting (39.2 avg.) and has five punts inside the 20.
 
Morgan State continues the 2012 season play in a battle of undefeated teams in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference when they matchup against North Carolina Central on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET at Hughes Stadium. The game will mark Homecoming for Morgan State and it will be the Bears first home contest since its home-opener on Sept. 1 against Sacred Heart. 
 
The Eagles (3-2, 2-0) are coming off an impressive 40-10 win versus South Carolina State.  The Bears rolled Savannah State 45-6 in T.A. Stadium.  The game will be broadcast live by WEAA, 88.9 FM. LIVE Stats will be provided at www.morganstatebears.com.
