Morgan State redshirt -junior Tyrone Hendrix has been named the College Sports Performance Awards FCS National Kick Returner of the Week following his efforts in the Bears game against Towson.
Hendrix from Tarpon Springs, Fla., had a sensational night as a returner on special teams. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder returned the opening kickoff 85 yards to help set up the Bears' only points of the game. He followed it up with a 55-yard return in the 3rd quarter.
As a result of his two kick returns for 140 yards (70.0 avg), Hendrix currently ranks No. 1 in the FCS in kick returns. Morgan State also leads the nation in kick returns (38.7 avg) following their performance against the Tigers.
Morgan State will take to the road to face Bowling Green State on September 10 at Doyt Perry Stadium in Bowling Green, Ohio. The game will be carried locally on WEAA, 88.9 FM.
