BALTIMORE, Md. (June 29, 2010)-Morgan State head women's bowling coach James Brown is pleased to announce the signing of three newcomers to the Lady Bears' program for the upcoming 2010-11 season.
Joining the Lady Bears in the fall will be Atoya Leatherbury (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine HS), Devin Revels (Killeen, Texas/Killeen Ellison HS) and Danielle Hale (Genesee Township, Mich./Kearsley HS), who will all enter Morgan State as freshmen.
Leatherbury began her bowling career at the age of four and has been Delaware's top female bowler for the last five consecutive years. Leatherbury had an average of 186 at the age of 12, which earned her the title of Delaware's top junior female bowler. Last season she maintained a 208 average and also bowled her first 300 game in the Junior Rodman Tournament in Ohio.
Revels completed a stellar bowling career at Killeen Ellison High. As a senior, she served as team captain and earned bowler of the year and team most valuable bowler honors. Last season Revels finished first in the high school district, while helping her team to a first-place Regional championship and eventually the Texas State championship. Individually, Revels concluded her senior season ranked first in the high school district and placed fifth in the Texas high school bowling club state singles.
Hale was a four-year letterwinner in bowling at Kearsley High, where she earned All-Conference academic, academic all-state, all-conference first team honors as a junior and all-conference second team honors as a senior. Hale, who served as co-captain during her junior and senior seasons and helped the team to a Division II State runner-up this past season. Hale, who also lettered in soccer as a goalie and played wide receiver, defensive back and punter for the football team, carried a 3.5-4.0 GPA as a sophomore through senior years.
Last season the Morgan State women's bowling team finished 69-69 overall, 14-16 in the MEAC North, which placed fourth. The Lady Bears also ranked 19th in the final National Tenpins Coaches Association (NTCA) National Poll. Keisheena Waldon, who earned NTCA All-American honorable mention honors, led Morgan State with a total of 11,783 pins for an average of 196.3 per match.
