Corin Adams scored a game-high 18 points and recorded a game-high six steals at UMES.
Morgan State 64, UMES 66
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (Feb. 22, 2010)-Morgan State's trip to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore didn't go as planned. Just two days after moving into second-place in the league standings, following their thrilling victory at Delaware State on Saturday, the Lady Bears were upended by the Lady Hawks, 66-64 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game on Monday evening at the Hytche Center.
Latoya Buckner came off the bench and scored a team-high 15 points, Casey Morton scored 14 points and April McBride added 11 points, to lead the Lady Hawks (10-14, 7-7 MEAC) to victory on Senior Night.
Morgan State (14-12, 9-4 MEAC) was led by Corin Adams, who scored a game-high 18 points and had a game-high six of the team's 16 steals. Theresa Davis chipped in with 13 points and Kristina Rosario grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds and added eight points, just missing out on a double-double.
Despite the loss, which was the Lady Bears second straight at the Hytche Center and ended their three-game winning streak, Morgan State did get a little help. Howard defeated Bethune-Cookman (59-53), which holds the tie-breaker over Morgan State, but Hampton, like Bethune-Cookman, which also defeated Morgan in the season's only meeting, won on the road, defeating Florida A&M (65-48). With Hampton's win, the Lady Pirates moved ahead of Morgan State for second, while the Lady Bears fell to third in the league standings.
The Lady Bears return home for their remaining three games, which will all be played at Hill Field House. Morgan State begins the home swing with a MEAC match-up against Norfolk State on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m.
