BALTIMORE, Md. (Feb. 21, 2010)-Morgan State takes its three-game winning streak into Princess Anne, Md., when it takes on Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) on Monday, Feb. 22 at 5:30 p.m. at the Hytche Athletic Center. The game will mark the 63rd meeting between the two teams with UMES holding a 34-28 advantage.
The Lady Bears are coming off a thrilling 53-52 MEAC victory at Delaware State on Saturday. Corin Adams led the way with a game-high 14 points and Brittany Dodson came off the bench to score 11, but it was Erin Hawkins' three-pointer with 4.2 remaining that lifted the Lady Bears past the Hornets. Hawkins basket, which was her only field goal of the day, ended an eight-game road losing skid for Morgan State at Delaware State.
Morgan State (14-11, 9-3 MEAC), which currently sits in second-place in the league standings behind two-time defending regular season champion, North Carolina A&T (12-1), is on pace for its best MEAC finish ever. Adams has paced Morgan State with an average of 19.1 points per contest, while Theresa Davis is adding 8.3 points and 5.8 rebounds. Kristina Rosario leads the team in rebounding with 6.9 per game and has a team-leading 28 blocked shots.
The Lady Hawks (9-14, 6-7 MEAC) ended a three-game losing skid after Saturday's 76-56 homecoming win over Coppin State. April McBride led UMES with a career-high 34 points, while Latoya Buckner came off the bench and scored 20 points in the win.
UMES is led by McBride, who is averaging 18.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest and has a team-leading 48 steals, all team highs. Chelsea Sanders is contributing 11.1 points. Adobi Agbasi leads the Lady Hawks with a total of 30 blocks.
