Rosario Earns MEAC Defensive Player of the Week

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Feb. 1, 2010)-Senior forward Kristina Rosario was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.

A native of Atlantic City, N.J., Rosario pulled down 23 rebounds (19 defensive), blocked a shot and tallied two steals to help the Lady bears to a 2-0 week last week and extend their winning streak to a season-long five games.

Rosario tied her career high with 15 rebounds against Maryland Eastern Shore (1/25), with 12 of them coming on the defensive end. She also added five points, a blocked shot and a steal in the win.

It was the first MEAC honor this season for Rosario, who was selected to the MEAC preseason 2nd team.

Corin Adams was cited in the other top performers list. The senior guard recorded 44 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, two blocks and five steals for Morgan State in two MEAC wins. Adams scored a team-high 19 points, added seven rebounds, three assists and recorded three steals to move into a first-place tie on the school's all-time steals chart with 355 in Sunday's win at Norfolk State.
