Brittany Dodson was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, while freshman center
Allison Lester earned rookie of the week honors as announced by the league office on Monday.
A native of St. Louis, Mo., Dodson came off the bench in the win over Fayetteville State (12/13) and tied a career-high with 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including a career-high five three-pointers on eight attempts. Dodson also added three rebounds, one assist and a steal to help the Lady Bears extend their winning streak to a season-high five games.
Lester, who made her Morgan State debut last Saturday, scored eight points on 4-of-7 shooting from the floor and added three rebounds. A native of Phoenix, Ariz., Lester, who started the game, also recorded a game-high four blocked shots in 12 minutes of play.
Corin Adams, who earned Co-MEAC Player of the Week honors last week, was cited in the other top performers list after finishing with a game-high 22 points and recording a game-high four steals in the win over Fayetteville State.
Morgan State (8-1), which is off to its best start through eight games since the 1980-81 season, returns to action tonight, as it visits Virginia Commonwealth in a non-conference game at 7 p.m. in Richmond, Va.
