BALTIMORE, Md. (Nov. 25, 2014)-Morgan State has announced the hiring of Larry Hineline, as its new head softball coach for the upcoming 2015 campaign. Hineline becomes the fourth head coach in the program's history.
"It's truly a great opportunity to come over to Morgan with its rich history and tradition," said Hineline. "I'm please to be able to inherit a team that has a lot of talent and a coaching staff that's already in place. We look to hit the ground running and not skip a beat."
Coach Hineline comes to Morgan State after spending the last six seasons at the helm of Coppin State University. The all-time winningest softball coach at Coppin State, Hineline spent the past five years leading the Eagles to qualifying berths at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championships.
While at Coppin State, Hineline twice coached the MEAC Pitcher of the Year and several first-team All-MEAC players. His best season came during the 2012 campaign, when Hineline guided the Eagles to a 20-22 overall mark and 13-5 in the MEAC Northern Division, good for second place.
Hineline played men's fast pitch softball as a pitcher and infielder. As a pitcher, he won several Maryland ASA State Tournaments, an ASA and ISC regional tournament along with two ASA National Qualifiers. He played third base for three national tournament championship teams (Over 40 Classification) and was a three-time first team all-tournament selection at this classification.
Hineline served as assistant coach for NSA Men's NSA National Tournament champion in 2008 and was head coach of Boy's U-19 ISC National Tournament champions in 2007 and 2008.
