Higgins named Rookie of the Week… Again

NORFOLK, Va. – For the second week in a row, Morgan State quarterback Seth Higgins has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week.

Higgins, making his third start of the season, led the Bears to a 52-3 blowout victory at North Carolina Central. The win marked the most points scored by the Bears since a 55-26 victory at Savannah State on Sept. 17, 2005.

The true freshman completed 13-of-18 passes for 156 yards and tossed two touchdowns. The Bears rolled up 415 yards of total offense with Higgins leading the way once again through the air.

The Edgewood (Md.) native has quickly become one of the top passers in the league and has thrown for 581 yards on 52-of-88 passes (59.1 pct.), including six touchdowns.

It's the second consecutive week Higgins has been honored by the MEAC this season. He was the MEAC Rookie of the Week following the Savannah State game.

The Bears, who are 4-3 on the season and moved into a tie for second place with a 3-1 record in the conference, resume their schedule against the Delaware State Hornets on Saturday, October 29 at Alumni Stadium in Dover. The game will be broadcast by WEAA, 88.9 FM. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
