BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Morgan State men's basketball team made its first appearance of the season in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll, coming in at No. 23.
Morgan State made its first appearance in the Mid-MajorTop 25 poll since it finished the 2008-09 season ranked No. 23. During last year's historic run the Bears captured the MEAC Championship and concluded their historic season as the No. 15 seed during the school's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
The squad collected 103 points Monday, which fell ahead of Green-Bay at No. 24 (79 points) and behind 22nd-ranked Portland (122 points). The No.1 position is currently held by Gonzaga (766 points).
Senior guard Reggie Holmes scored 25 points to help the first-place ranked Bears rout Maryland-Eastern Shore 91-54 on Monday night (Jan. 25), a victory that extended the Bears winning streak to six straight. With the win, Morgan State improved to 14-7 overall and 6-0 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
No. 23 Morgan State returns to action Saturday (Jan. 30), when it travels to the “Tidewater” for a 4 p.m. matchup with the Spartans of Norfolk State (3-15, 2-4 MEAC) at Echols Hall.
