BALTIMORE, Md. (Sept. 9, 2008)-Loyola's Samantha Greenbaum recorded a double-double with a match-high 15 assists and added 10 digs, while Stasia Collins finished with 14 assists, six kills, seven digs and five blocks to lead host Loyola to a 3-0 (25-22, 25-11, 25-15) non-conference victory over Morgan State on Tuesday night at Reitz Arena.
The Lady Bears (0-9) still continued to struggle with its offense, as they recorded just 14 kills for the match, including just two kills in the third and final set. Erin Cox led Morgan State with six kills and Hilary Tutman added three.
However, along with its offensive struggles came the costly miscues and errors. Morgan State gift wrapped 34 unearned points to the Greyhounds after committing 21 attack errors in its 85 attempts and adding 13 service errors.
Thus far this season, the Lady Bears' mental lapses and miscues tend to trigger multiple-point runs for their opponents. That again was the case in the opening set, as Morgan State fell behind 7-1. The Lady Bears would respond with a 13-7 run of their own, capped off with a service ace by Tutman, to even the score at 14 apiece. Morgan State would again tie the match at 17 all, before surrendering six straight points and eventually falling 25-22.
Loyola (2-5) finished with 31 kills, a .244 hitting percentage and had eight service aces with Nina Camaioni, who had a match-high seven kills, contributing with a match-high four aces. The hosts also did their part on the defensive end as well. The Greyhounds limited Morgan State to a -.082 hitting percentage and held an 11-7 blocking advantage over the Lady Bears. Karlee Woodward led the way with seven blocks, three of which were solos.

The Lady Bears will look for their first win of the season when they return to action this Friday, Sept. 12, when they travel to Washington, D.C. for the Georgetown Tournament. The Lady Bears face Saint Francis-N.Y. on Friday at 1 p.m. and close the first day of competition against Brown at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 13 Morgan State will take on host Georgetown at 1 p.m., before ending the tournament with a 5 p.m. match against James Madison.
