DOVER, Del. (Oct. 31, 2008)-Led by Delaware State's Cassandra Joyner, who notched team highs in kills (17) and digs (19), three Lady Hornets would talley double-doubles to help the hosts to a hard fought 3-2 (30-28, 23-25, 25-15, 21-25, 15-11) Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference North Division victory over Morgan State on Friday evening at Memorial Hall.

Erica Tajchman (16 kills, 13 digs) and Elisa Hermann (12 kills, 17 digs) also tallied double-doubles for the Lady Hornets (12-10, 6-3 MEAC), who swept the season series over Morgan State for the first time since the 2005 season.

The Lady Bears (3-23, 2-7 MEAC), who by far played their best volleyball of the season, showed what the season could have been like if the entire team was healthy from the start. Morgan State finished the match with season bests in kills (59) and digs (70) and recorded a .228 hitting percentage.

Ivanti Bush led the way with a match-high 19 kills and added eight digs, while Rhyan Shy tallied her first collegiate double-double with season bests in kills (16) and digs (16). Christa Rogers also recorded a double-double, while setting career-highs in assists (42) and digs (11) and tied a career-high with six kills. It was her second double-double of the season.

So coupled with Morgan's loss and Hampton's 3-0 loss to Howard on Wednesday night, the stage has been set for this Sunday, Nov. 2, at 4:30 p.m. at Hill Field House when the Lady Bears host Hampton in the conference season finale. Morgan State, which lost to Hampton in four sets earlier in the season, must sweep the Lady Pirates in three sets to secure the fourth and final spot in the MEAC North Division in order to advance to the league's championship (Nov. 14-16) in Hampton, Va.
