Ivanti Bush notched 13 kills in Morgan's homecoming victory over Coppin State.
BALTIMORE, Md. (Oct. 26, 2008)-Ivanti Bush recorded a match-high 13 of Morgan State's 26 kills to lead the Lady Bears to a 3-0 (25-11, 25-22, 25-17) homecoming victory over visiting Coppin State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match on Sunday afternoon at Hill Field House.
The victory ended the Lady Bears' four-match losing slide and improved Morgan State's winning streak over Coppin State to 42 consecutive matches, its longest active winning streak over an opponent.
Morgan State (3-22, 2-6 MEAC) also stayed alive in the hunt for the fourth and final spot out of the MEAC North Division to advance to the upcoming conference tournament (Nov. 14-16) in Hampton, Va.
The Lady Bears also had a bitter-sweet day serving the ball. Morgan State tallied 14 service aces (second most this season), but also tied a season-high after committing 14 service errors. Rhyan Shy notched six aces and Bush added five aces.
Coppin State (0-20, 0-8 MEAC), which was held to 12 kills for the match, was led by Jade Dudley, who finished with four kills and Kanisha Sheppard added three kills. Brittany Arvin had a team-high five digs and Lauren Lacey totaled eight assists for the Lady Eagles.
The Lady Bears will now get ready for a league match-up against Delaware State on Friday, Oct. 31. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Memorial Hall in Dover, Del.
