HAMPTON, Va. (Oct. 17, 2008)-Eventually all good things come to an end and Friday night that's exactly what happened, as the Morgan State volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (27-25, 20-25, 25-22, 26-24) decision at Hampton in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match at Holland Hall. The loss ended and the Lady Bears' first-ever loss against Hampton, dropping them to 30-1 all-time against Hampton.

Morgan State (2-20, 1-4 MEAC) was led by Ivanti Bush, who recorded a match-high 22 kills and added seven digs for the Lady Bears, while Rhyan Shy fell short of a double-double with nine kills and 11 digs. Christa Rogers tallied a season-high 36 assists and added five digs and two blocks, while Dina Beamon erupted for a match- and season-high 32 digs, surpassing her previous high of 18 against Delaware State (10/12).

However, the night would belong to the Lady Pirates (3-23, 2-3 MEAC). Hampton, which finished with 54 kills (10 more than Morgan), was led by Mianna Armstrong's 17-kill, eight-digs performance and Adriana Vazquez, who tallied a double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs. Lihi Elkayam totaled 39 of the team's 43 assists and Alyssa Jackson notched 26 digs.

The Lady Pirates finished the match with a hitting percentage of .124, while Morgan had a .107 hitting percentage. Hampton had set highs of 16 kills in both the first and fourth sets, while Morgan notched set highs of 13 kills in both the first and fourth sets.

Morgan State did hold a 9-4 advantage over Hampton in blocks with Camille Coleman finishing with a match-high six blocks and Erica Turnbull adding four blocks.

The Lady Bears, which closed out the first half of their conference slate with two consecutive losses, will look to reverse things in the second half of the schedule, beginning with a 3 p.m. match this Sunday, Oct. 19 at Hill Field House against MEAC North Division leader, Maryland Eastern Shore.
