Roy Winston “Crag” Cragway Roy Cragway is originally from Sparrow’s Point, Baltimore County. He attended Morgan from 1945 to 1949.
While at Morgan, he was an honor student. Roy was a co-captain of the 1948 Championship Football Team. He was an outstanding leader and a terror on both offense and defense. Roy was selected as an all-CIAA guard on the First Team in 1948. Roy was a two-letter man while at Morgan.
He was a member of Morgan’s track team. Because of his outstanding leadership ability, Roy was elected and officer4 of his Senior Class, served on the Student Council, won the Howard C. Wright Memorial Award in 1949, and the Carl Chavis Memorial Award for being the outstanding student athlete of 1949.
Roy graduated Cum Laude in June of 1949. In 1950 he served in the U.S. Army, where he was awarded the Purple Heard and Combat Infantry Badge.
Roy was considered an excellent golfer. He won over 35 golfing trophies during a 20-year period. Roy’s professional affiliations include membership in the Public School Teachers Association, the Maryland State Teachers Association, the National Education Association, and many others too numerous to list.
He was the Athletic Director at Douglass High School in Baltimore, Maryland. Roy was president of the “M” Club for five years, served as “M” Club Treasurer, was a member of the Executive Board of the Alumni Association, and the Alumni Golf Tournament Committee.
Roy is also a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Roy is married and the father of two boys, who attended Morgan.
