Joe was born in Edenton, North Carolina and came to Baltimore in 1930. That same year he came to Morgan, and since he was one of the very few who had access to an automobile, he was known as Mr. Transportation. Making upward of five or six trips per day, he carried the faculty and students to and from their home to Morgan College at cost.
He became very interested in its athletic program and attended most games on and off the campus. He joined the Varsity "M" Club and has remained a dedicated member for many years.
As in all organizations, regardless of their purpose, you hear about the Big Wigs, (the president, the treasurer and officers), but you hardly ever hear about the little fellows who keep the wheels turning. One of these such personalities is Varsity "M" Club member Joseph Felton.
Felton's son-in-law "Woody" Williams and daughter "Beverly are graduates of Morgan State University.
