Guy Goodwin, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, participated in high school track & field at Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical High School where he earned rankings as the second best 400m sprinter and the fourth best 200m sprinter in the country. He also won gold medals with the 1980 USA Junior National Track & Field team in the 400m and 4x400m relay events.

Mr. Goodwin was a standout track & field star for the Bears, helping to set eleven school records for relay events, three of which still stand today in the 4x100m relay (39.77), 4x200m relay (1:22.20), and the 4x400m relay (3:03.40).

Mr. Goodwin wasted no time making his mark on the track for Morgan, and claimed the NCAA Division-II 400m individual championship 1980 with a time of 46.32. He was also a member of the 1980 NCAA Division-II 4x400m relay championship team from Morgan that set a school record (3:08.53) in which he ran a 45.9 split as the anchor leg. Mr. Goodwin finished his first season with Morgan as a 1980 Olympic trials quarter finalist in the 400m race. Over the remainder of his Morgan career, Mr. Goodwin went on to become a five time Penn Relay watch winner, a Millrose Games watch winner and mile relay record holder, a seven time All-American selection, and a member of the third and seventh fastest all-time Division-II 4x400m relay teams.

After completing his career at Morgan, Mr. Goodwin briefly played in the National Football Association after signing as a free agent wide receiver with the Green Bay Packers in 1984. He went on to have a successful career as a sales executive with MCI Telecommunications in Towson and Atlanta, claiming the #1 ranking in sales for sixteen consecutive quarters. Mr. Goodwin currently resides in Baltimore, and is an active member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
