Bertram Harrington was born in Lynchburg, Virginia. He received his early education in the Baltimore City Public Schools. “Bert” entered Morgan in 1949 and majored in physical education. He lettered in Varsity Football and the Wrestling Team.

“Squirrel” as he has been known through the years was an off campus student, but when Charlie “Red” Robinson or big Joe Jackson got in bed at night in Baldwin Hall “Squirrel” was right there to bunk in. He was the kind of guy who was first out on the field for practice and gave it his all. He was teammate of such guys such as George Rooks, Charlie “Red” Robinson, Ernie Custis and many others.

“Bert” became affiliated with the Varsity “M” Club during the planning of the testimonial of Coach Hurt. He was elected president of the “M” Club and served in that capacity for eight years. Through his endeavors as president, the “M” Club has grown to the kind of organization that is representative of Morgan State University.
